In CS:GO, souvenir skins are special weapon finishes that commemorate Major tournaments, one of the biggest and most prestige competitive events in the eSports world. In article you will find:
What are Souvenir Skins in CS:GO
Souvenir skins are unique weapon finishes that can only be acquired by unboxing a Souvenir Packages. Souvenir Packages are containers that exclusively feature CS:GO skins from a specific skin collection in Souvenir quality. The most popular Souvenir Skins are AWP | Dragon Lore and M4A1-S | Knight, both from the Cobblestone Collection.
These souvenir-quality skins feature multiple unique stickers applied to them and cannot be used in trade-up contracts. Souvenir skins are much rarer than regular ones, and most of them are more expensive.
How Do Souvenirs Work in CS:GO?
Like other weapon skins, CS:GO souvenir skins are purely cosmetic items and do not give any in-game advantage to their owners. However, what differentiates them from the other finishes is that they only drop from the Souvenir Packages having pre-applied Tournament Stickers onto them.
Each Souvenir Package corresponds to a specific map played in the tournament and contains weapon skins from the respective map’s weapon collection. For example, opening the Paris 2023 Vertigo Souvenir Package will return a random skin from The 2021 Vertigo Collection.
Now that we know what CS:GO Souvenir Packages are and how they work, let’s find out how to get CS:GO Souvenir Packages.
Ways to Get CS:GO Souvenir Skins
Now that we have figured out what souvenir skins are, let’s find out how to get souvenir skins in CS:GO.
Until 2019, viewers could receive CS:GO Souvenir Packages through random drops while watching the Major Championship matches live on Twitch or via the in-game GOTV system . After 2019, however, Valve reworked the system of obtaining Souvenir Packages and made them exclusively available to holders of the Major Viewer Passes, which could be bought in-game.
CS:GO Major Viewer Pass comes with the pass itself, a Major commemorative coin, and a token, which you can exchange for a Souvenir Package from a match you choose and open the container to get a CS:GO Souvenir skin from it. These tokens are obtainable, and you can get more either by buying them or by predicting the results of the Major Stages.
Everyone who buys a Viewer Pass for $10 gets one exchangeable token, and those who buy a Viewer Pass for $18 get three additional tokens. Also, players can claim up to three more coins by successfully predicting the results of the three Major Stages (Challengers, Legends, Champions) in the so-called Pick‘Em, one token per each. It sums up to seven tokens in total.
Every token you get, you can exchange for a Souvenir Package by choosing a Major match and clicking on the gift icon.
If these seven tokens are not enough and you still want to get more Souvenir Packages, you can buy tokens separately, each costing $3. There is no restriction on the number of tokens you can buy, so you can all in and get a Souvenir Package from every match of a Major!
Buying Through the Steam Market
Apart from buying a Major Viewer Pass, you can buy Souvenir Packages or particular Souvenir CS:GO skins from other users via Steam Community Market or third-party services. Here is how to get souvenir skins in CS:GO on the Steam Market.
To do that, open Steam and go to the Community Market. Select Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in the “Browse by Game” tab on the right side of the screen. Then, click “Show advanced options…” and find the Item Categories list in the filter menu. Click “Souvenir” and hit the “Search” button there.
You can also check out which souvenir skins from a particular event are available on the Community Market. To do that, scroll down in the filter menu and tick the event you are interested in. For example, if you want a souvenir from Rio Major, tick the box near the name of this event.
If you want to test your luck by opening a package, here is how to get CS:GO souvenir packages. Select both the event and the “Container” Type near the Tournament section.
